In 1921, the London Bank of Australia - which had operated agencies in Cleveland, Redland Bay and Wellington Point from Roma street in Brisbane - was absorbed into the English, Scottish and Australian Bank. In July of the same year the bank purchased land at Shore street East and opened a branch on 1st March 1925.
ES&A opened its first Australian branch in Sydney in 1853 (and printed Australian banknotes that were issued at branches in Sydney, Adelaide, Hobart and Melbourne).
In 1893, the business was renamed the 'English, Scottish & Australian Bank Limited' following a financial upheaval. ES&A merged with ANZ on 1st October 1970 to form Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ES&A remains as 'Esanda', formed from the shorthand of ESandA).
