What are the Lender Data Placeholders?

A number of FAQs make reference to 'Lowest Rate Placeholders'. Placeholders are a string of text that is replaced in many blocks of text with the lowest available rate of a specific type from your accredited lenders.

The placeholders shown below are in no way definitive - in fact, they're just one style of placeholder, but they're also the most often used. When used in a supporting shortcode, Yabber feature, or Elementor widget, the placeholder is replaced with up-to-date rate data.

  Validity of Data

We'll often have brokers question us about the validity of data, with some rates indicating a rather low figure. For example, at the time of writing the RBA cash rate is 4.1% but Judo are still advertising an Owner Occupied rate of 4.4% (a rate that is leveraged against a business loan for business customers), and Gateway are advertising a 4.69% (5.11%) product that relates to a specific type of Land Loan. Many mortgage products of the green or eco variety will also compromise the effectiveness of the data, so our classifier engine will flag these products and exclude them with a high degree of accuracy... but every now and again one will sneak in (before we reclassify it). So, all rates returned to your website are sourced directly from the lenders, and all rates are valid (unless the lender themselves make an error), but some products may often appear misleading in that they're not standard consumer loans.

All rates are measured against an internal margin that makes an attempt to exclude loans that aren't of the standard variety. Home and Investment products, for example, have a 0.8 buffer applied above the cash rate (at the time of writing), and this varies depending on the market. Business, Personal, and Equipment rates have a margin applied that is often as high as 2%. This margin may be set on a user level in Yabber, so the buffer may be set higher of lower.

The data in Yabber is updated daily and cached on your website for a maximum of 48 hours. Any comparison data is cached for a maximum of 12-hours on your website. Rates are assessed on our end every day for correctness.

  Rate Placeholders

Again, he following rate placeholders are not definitive by any means, but they are the most commonly used. When a published rate is used the percent symbol is automatically applied (%), and when the comparison rate is used it will be returned with the percent sign and asterisk (%*). The rates themselves should be self-explanatory; when the _c is used, this is the comparison rate. Fixed and Variable products are usually indicated by the _f and _v suffix.
